VALR Capital

Give your customers credit you can stand behind.

You already give credit to the customers you trust. We help you give it to more of them, set the right limit for each, and see trouble early.

What you get

  • A written credit policy, drawn up with your finance and sales heads
  • A score, grade, limit, tenure and payment terms for every credit customer
  • A starter limit for new customers, so they can earn their way up
  • A monthly review of your whole book, with a list of customers to watch
  • Collection steps and restructuring plans for customers who fall behind
  • The option to move part of your credit book to a licensed lender, so it stops sitting on your balance sheet

A worked example

A retailer asks for KES 1,000,000 on 60 days. Their record shows KES 420,000 of purchases a month, estimated total sales of KES 1.5 million, and on-time payment with a few late cycles. That makes them Grade B. Your policy allows up to 30 days for Grade B.

The answer: KES 500,000 for 30 days, with three reasons your rep can read out. Tenure is set by grade. The limit is based on purchase history. Pay on time for three cycles and the limit grows.

The retailer still gets stock. You avoid an exposure their numbers could not support.

Questions

Do I have to change my accounting system?
No. We start with exports from what you use now, whether SAP, QuickBooks, Sage or Excel.
Who decides in the end?
You do. We apply your policy. Anything outside it goes to your named approver.
What about customers who pay mostly in cash?
We estimate cash sales from the deposits they make to M-Pesa and the bank, and adjust the limit to how much of their trade we can confirm.
Do you lend to my customers?
No. You give the credit, or a licensed lender does.
